FHP starts criminal investigation into pedestrian death on Archer Road

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating the death of a pedestrian that occurred early Sunday morning after at least two cars hit him along Archer Road near the Historic Haile Homestead.

According to FHP, at least two unknown cars hit the pedestrian, who was in the road in an unlighted area for unknown reasons, and failed to stop. A third vehicle also struck the pedestrian, and the Chiefland driver stayed on scene to report the incident at around 4:41 a.m.

The incident is being investigated as a criminal investigation, and FHP encourages anyone with information to reach out at 386-754-6270.
