According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release, officers responded to the report of a bank robbery around 3:39 p.m. at the Wells Fargo branch located at 3505 SW Archer Road.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white male wearing shorts and a hospital gown who entered the bank and threatened a teller, implying he had a firearm. The suspect fled the bank with an undetermined amount of cash and witnesses described the vehicle and direction of travel to officers.

The suspect was apprehended within minutes at approximately 3:46 p.m. and identified as Patrick S. Johnson, 50. Johnson was charged with robbery with a firearm and taken to the Alachua County Jail after being taken to the hospital for medical issues unrelated to the arrest.
