Gainesville Police officers quickly identified and arrested a suspect after responding to a burglary alarm at Ironwood Golf Course on Thursday night.

According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release, GPD officers responded to the golf course, located at 2100 NE 39th Ave., at approximately 9:30 p.m. after an alarm was triggered.
When officers arrived, they discovered that the glass in a rear door had been shattered. Officers established a perimeter around the business and cleared the interior to ensure no one remained inside.
Surveillance video captured the break-in and showed Steven Hardwick, 66, using a concrete block to shatter the door before entering the golf course’s Pro Shop.
Officers quickly identified Hardwick as the suspect. Several hours later, officers located him less than two miles from the golf course. He was wearing the same clothing seen in the surveillance video, according to police.
Hardwick was taken to the Alachua County Jail and charged with business burglary and felony criminal mischief.
