Gainesville police investigate Friday night homicide

The Gainesville Police Department is investigating a Friday night homicide that happened in the Phoenix neighborhood (3100 SW 26th Way) at around 10 p.m.

According to the department, officers responded to reports of shots fired, and shortly after, an adult male with gunshot wounds arrived at a local hospital where he later died from the injuries.

The department is asking for the public’s help in the active investigation, looking for witnesses of anything suspicious from the area, surveillance footage or other information. The contact person is Detective Williams at 352-393-7681.
