Gainesville shooting kills two, injures one

Update: (Thursday, 4:30 p.m.) — A Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release stated that the Alachua County Combined Communication Center (CCC) received several 911 calls at 1:43 a.m. hearing gunshots in the area of 200 NW 3rd Avenue while also receiving a call from a male victim reporting he’d been shot.

After officers arrived on scene at 1:47 a.m., emergency responders transported the male caller who was shot to the hospital. Officers then found a deceased male victim on the ground as they approached the residence at 229 NW 3rd Ave. After conducting a safety sweep of the home, officers discovered a deceased female victim inside. Using a GPD drone, officers searched the area but could not locate the suspect.

According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) social media post, multiple officers responded at 1:45 a.m. to a victim who called and said he had been shot near 200 NW 3rd Avenue.

GPD officers tactically advanced to the residence and found a male victim dead on the ground from a gunshot wound. After conducting a safety sweep of the house, officers discovered a female victim inside the home also dead from a gunshot wound.

Emergency responders transported the victim who made the call to the hospital.
