According to a State Attorney’s Office press release, Ramon Demonsthenes Adams, 44, accepted a plea offer that added an additional 15 years from the original Feb. 1, 2023, offer. Judge David P. Kreider presided over the hearing and sentenced Adams to 45 years in the Florida Department of Corrections with 60 months concurrent on two additional cases.

The incident occurred on April 21, 2021, when Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers responded to the Addison Lane Apartments for a sexual battery investigation.

GPD investigators determined that Adams violently attacked a female victim in the laundry room. Adams was arrested on April 24, 2021, and DNA evidence collected by investigators confirmed that Adams was the assailant.

Following nearly two dozen hearings and depositions, the trial date was set for March 6, but prior to jury selection, Adams decided to accept the state’s plea offer.

Adams received 45 years on charges of sexual battery with physical force, lewd and lascivious exhibition, failure to register as a sexual offender and petit theft.
