Emergency personnel transported the man to UF Health Shands as a trauma alert, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to GPD, the unidentified victim was in an altercation with two men, Tasireous Townsend, who turned 21 on Tuesday, and D’Angelo Bridges, 18. During the altercation, Townsend allegedly “retrieved a knife and stabbed the victim.”

“Both suspects fled the scene, and Townsend was located by responding officers exiting Town Park [Apartments],” the release said.

Bridges was later apprehended in the Phoenix neighborhood.

GPD interviewed both men and transported them to the Alachua County Jail. Townsend faces charges for murder and tampering with evidence. Bridges faces charges of aggravated battery with a
deadly weapon, tampering with evidence, and giving a false name to a law enforcement officer.

GPD reports the investigation is ongoing and asks anyone with information about the homicide to contact Det. Bernal at 352-393-7729.

The stabbing took place a short distance from where a man fatally shot his neighbor in a dispute on Friday.
