Gainesville police arrested a local man last week for possession of child pornography and owning an illegal child-like sex toy.

According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) press release on Tuesday, officers from the Department of Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) division and the GPD SWAT team served a search warrant last Wednesday. The release said Alan Cridebring, 48, resided at the home at 2701 SW 13t Street #J3.

The investigation started following a cyber tip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) indicating that the username “Microsoft Binglmage” shared an image of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

According to GPD, officers contacted Cridebring at his residence, but he provided no information regarding the illegally shared image. Officers found a 3-foot long box addressed to Cridebring in his bedroom containing an illegal child-like sex toy, which investigators believed to be shipped from China, according to the release.

GPD also reported that it seized electronic devices from Cridebring’s residence. Digital forensic examiners located nearly 100 images of CSAM on his computer, including the original image that triggered the cyber tip.

Cridebring, in coordination with his attorney, turned himself into the GPD on Thursday. He faces 12 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of prohibition of certain acts in connection with obscene, lewd, etc., material.

Cridebring worked briefly for the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), according to GPD. He previously worked for the Department of Corrections in Nevada and was most recently employed by Alachua County Court Services.
