GPD finds vehicle involved in fatal hit-and-run

Local law enforcement located the vehicle wanted for a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed a cyclist on Monday.

According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release, the Volvo involved in the collision was located on Wednesday evening with the help of the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.

No arrest has been made and law enforcement continues to collect evidence for the criminal case.

The incident occurred in the 3300 block of S. Main Street around 9:38 a.m. on Monday. A citizen discovered both vehicle and bicycle debris on the west side of the roadway and sidewalk and found a body in the wooded area near the debris.

Emergency responders pronounced the cyclist dead on scene.

They found the car it should have been arrest made. They should have never left the scene.
