Lake Butler man arrested for shooting three dogs

A Lake Butler man was arrested for allegedly shooting three hunting dogs, killing two, at the Piney Bay Hunt Club in Raiford.

According to a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) release, FWC officers were assisted by the Union County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, Dec. 12, regarding the shooting of the hunting dogs. The suspect, Lance Thornton, 22, of Lake Butler, was arrested and transported to the Union County Jail.

Thornton was charged with three counts of aggravated animal cruelty and one count of evidence tampering. Thornton posted a $15,000 bond and was released from the Union County Jail.
