Lake City domestic shooting leads to arrest

Lake City Police arrested a woman who allegedly fired a gun at a man at an NW Georgia Avenue residence on Tuesday.

According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers responded at 10:55 p.m. to the report of a disturbance involving gunfire. They arrested Nidia Yenise Nunez, 28, of Lake City, for discharging a weapon in a public or on residential property.

When officers arrived, they learned that there was an altercation between a man and a woman. The man reportedly went inside the residence and started throwing the woman’s belongings into the backyard. While he was doing this, the man said he heard a single gunshot come from the backyard. He then called law enforcement to report the gunfire. While walking into the backyard, the man saw Nunez with a handgun that she placed inside her purse.

Officers arrested Nunez and collected the handgun for evidence.
