A Lake City suspect who shot and killed his cousin on Saturday afternoon was discovered dead in the woods later that evening.
According to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) release sent Monday morning, deputies responded to 502 SW Journey Court in Lake City to a report received at 4:07 p.m. about a person shot.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a deceased female victim, identified as 27-year-old Tina Farmer, who was shot in the head.
Law enforcement set up a perimeter in the surrounding wooded area, and the CCSO released a shelter-in-place notification via its Facebook page and through the Columbia County Emergency Management Services since the suspect was armed.
Other agencies that assisted in the search included the Lake City Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Department of Corrections, Florida Wildlife Commission, and the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office. These units included K-9, SWAT and drone teams who were able to track and locate the suspect’s exact location before making contact.
The suspect, later identified as Tyndale M. Mullins, 19, was located shortly after 7 p.m., deceased in the woods. He was the cousin of the victim.
All family members have been notified at the time of the release and there is an ongoing investigation as to what led to the shooting.
