Lake City homicide victim identified

Female remains found in Lake City near SW Haltiwanger Road on Sunday were identified as 18-year-old Coyoete Turner.

According to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) release sent Tuesday, detectives identified the homicide victim. Turner’s remains were discovered in a field near SW Haltiwanger Road on Sunday morning after CCSO deputies were dispatched at 11:30 a.m. to the report of a body found.

Next of kin notification was completed. Now detectives are investigating the case as a homicide and are asking anyone who had seen Turner in the past week to contact CCSO at 386-758-1375.

“Our hearts go out to the victim’s family,” said Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter in the release. “We will continue to work tirelessly until we are able to bring a successful closure to this case.”
