Lake City man dies in Bradford County hit-and-run

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is searching for a vehicle that hit and killed a Lake City man who was on County Road 227 south of Starke on Tuesday morning.

According to the FHP report, the 24-year-old Lake City man was in the westbound lane of CR 227 at 2:20 a.m. near SW 57th Avenue when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The report said it is not known if the Lake City man was standing, walking or laying in the road when hit.

A 24-year-old Starke man driving an SUV was traveling westbound on CR 227 when the vehicle’s undercarriage struck the pedestrian. The Starke driver stopped and contacted emergency services. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact FHP at *347 or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-8477.
