A Lake City man was arrested Wednesday for drowning his ex-girlfriend’s dog.

According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers arrested Jeremy L. Brock, 23, on charges of willful torture and death of an animal after they responded to 833 SW Popular Lane at 1:58 p.m. to a call regarding animal cruelty.

When officers spoke to the current resident, they learned that Brock was a previous resident at 833 SW Popular Lane and had been dating a prior resident. The release stated Brock had sent threatening text messages to his ex-girlfriend that said he was going to kill her dog. The current resident was in possession of the dog as Brock’s ex-girlfriend was relocating.

The current resident had gone on an outing and, when returning home, discovered the dog was deceased in the bathtub with a leash wrapped around its neck.

In an interview with officers, Brock said he drowned the dog by filling the bathtub with water and then placed a wet pillow over the dog’s head while using the weight of a laundry basket to apply downward force on the canine.

Brock was booked into the Columbia County Detention Center and held on a $10,000 bond.

This guy has no heart. Anyone that can do that to an innocent animal can definitely do it to a human. 😡😡😡😡

Kill him. People like this can’t be rehabilitated. There’s just something wrong with their wiring.
