A 23-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night on NW Ashley Street in Lake City.
According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers were dispatched at 9:51 p.m. to the report of a person shot on NW Ashley Street.
When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound and a witness attempting cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Emergency responders took over, but the victim, Cristopher Alid Cruz Aleman, died of his injuries.
Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies assisted LCPD officers in securing the crime scene, which was processed by Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) crime scene investigators. Investigators from the LCPD and State Attorney’s Office spoke with the victim’s family and potential witnesses.
