An armed robber took cash from a Lake City Stop & Go on Tuesday night and fled on foot.

According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers were dispatched to 1263 W. US Highway 90 at 10:30 p.m. for a report of a robbery.

On scene, an employee said they were outside the business when the suspect approached from behind, placed a handgun in the employee’s back and ordered the employee to enter the Stop & Go. Once inside, the suspect threw a blue backpack to the cashier and ordered the cashier to “give me all the money.”

Once the cashier had placed the money in the backpack, the suspect allegedly ordered both employees to lie on the floor before he left the Stop & Go and fled on foot. Neither employee was harmed during the incident.

The employees described the armed suspect as a black male wearing a black shirt, gray shorts, black Nike shoes, a black shower cap and a white surgical mask on his face.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call the LCPD at 386-752-4343.
