Law enforcement apprehended four suspects involved in a drive-by shooting Tuesday in the Carver Gardens apartments parking lot.

According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release, multiple GPD units responded at 5:39 p.m. to Carver Gardens at 1101 SE 15th St. after being informed that people were shooting inside the apartment complex.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) deputy in the area was flagged down and told that a drive-by shooting just occurred. The deputy observed the suspects’ vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. The deputy pursued the vehicle to the 1900 block of SE 13th Place where it crashed. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

According to the release, information from witnesses – coupled with a K9 unit – led law enforcement to 1228 SE 19th Terrace where the four subjects were detained.
