Lake City Police arrested a juvenile armed with a stolen firearm involved in a verbal altercation on Friday.
According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers arrived at the Cedar Park Apartments (NW Bascom Norris Drive) at 10:28 a.m. to the report of two individuals being armed.
The two individuals fled the scene to the nearby railroad tracks before officers arrived. Descriptions of the two were given to the officers, who later located the suspects walking on the railroad tracks.
A pat search by the officers revealed one of the two individuals had a concealed handgun in his front waistband. A check of the firearm’s serial number showed the weapon was reported stolen from Jacksonville.
The Friday incident started when the two individuals got into a verbal altercation with a third unidentified individual, who told the first two, “Shoot me then.”
The first two individuals then obtained a firearm from an adult in the area but fled the scene when told that 911 had been called.
Officers arrested the armed juvenile who was transported to the Columbia County Detention Center on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and dealing in stolen property. The adult who supplied the firearm has charges pending for transfer of a firearm to a minor and obstructing justice.
Better than TV-20, but more details would be nice.
He’s a juvenile! He’s an innocent kid in the wrong place at the wrong time being supervised by a trusted adult. I know the child and he was influenced by an ADULT. Those are the details. So catch the adult, the child, a good kid just got advantage taken of him by an irresponsible adult. If I offend anyone for taking up for this child who was coerced into a situation by an irresponsible adult, then so be it!! I love you kid!!
I totally agree with you so be it
