LCPD investigates homicides near Lake De Soto

Two people were found shot to death inside a car near Lake De Soto on Monday morning.

According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) press release, officers were dispatched around 10:45 a.m. to 258 NE Hernando Ave., where they located a silver passenger car with two front seat occupants shot to death.

LCPD and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement processed the scene and are investigating the incident.

Authorities are withholding the names of the two individuals until they have been positively identified and next of kin are notified.

“This appears to be a tragic event for all involved,” said Lake City Chief of Police Gerald Butler in the press release. “I can say we feel safe in saying there is no threat to the public from the perpetrator(s) of this crime.”
