Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputies discovered a stolen gun and illegal drugs and arrested Otis Randolph Johnson of Bronson during a traffic stop on Friday night.

In an LCSO press release, Deputy Nelson Macia stopped Johnson, 45, on State Road 24 near University Oaks between Archer and Bronson after clocking him driving 73 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone.

According to the report, Johnson was acting suspicious so Macias called for backup. LCSO deputy Alton Horne arrived with his K-9, Behr, who was alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle.

Deputies had Johnson exit the vehicle and searched inside the pickup, discovering a loaded 9 mm pistol reported stolen from the City of Williston along with 10 grams of methamphetamines, drug paraphernalia (scales and narcotics packaging baggies), and $741 in cash in Johnson’s pockets.

This marks Johnson’s eighth arrest in Levy County, according to the LCSO release. Johnson is a convicted felon prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm. He was charged with possession of methamphetamines with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
