Multiple law enforcement agencies worked to apprehend a man accused of battery and kidnapping a female early Thursday morning.

According to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) release, Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) deputies arrested Frank Desalvo, 50, following a domestic dispute that started near Fort White around 4 a.m. and ended near Trenton.

CCSO deputies originally responded to a residence near Fort White regarding a male who allegedly battered and kidnapped a female. Witnesses informed deputies of the involved parties’ whereabouts and learned that they were possibly driving to Gilchrist County.

Information about Desalvo was relayed to GCSO deputies who located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit before losing sight of the vehicle. Further investigation led deputies to a residence outside of Trenton.

CCSO deputies set up a perimeter around the Trenton residence to assist GCSO deputies. Initially, Desalvo refused to come out of the house and, after a brief standoff, he was apprehended and the victim was safely removed from the house, according to the GCSO press release.

GCSO deputies arrested Desalvo and he will face charges from both Gilchrist and Columbia Counties.

“The actions of these deputies and cooperation between agencies helped to resolve this situation so quickly,” said Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter in a statement. “Domestic violence is a serious issue and I am thankful the victim could be rescued before being caused further harm. I want to thank (Gilchrist County) Sheriff Schultz and his team for working with us to bring this suspect to justice.”
