A Gainesville man was arrested Friday morning after he stabbed a person in the 3500 block of SW Archer Road.

According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release, detectives have charged Peter A. Thompson, 35, with attempted homicide following a stabbing Friday in Gainesville.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and residents and motorists should expect an increased law enforcement presence in the area as the investigation continues.
