Gainesville Police Department spokesperson Art Forgey reported to Mainstreet Daily News that on Saturday morning the victim, who was transported to a local hospital, had died.

A Gainesville man was arrested Friday morning after he stabbed a person in the 3500 block of SW Archer Road.
According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release, detectives have charged Peter A. Thompson, 35, with attempted homicide following a stabbing Friday in Gainesville.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and residents and motorists should expect an increased law enforcement presence in the area as the investigation continues.
Thompson is in custody and is being interviewed by detectives.
