Levy County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating what led to a murder-suicide in Morriston that claimed a man and a woman on Friday.

According to a Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) release sent Monday, deputies responded to a reported shooting on Friday where they discovered a man and woman seated in a car at a residential location. Both people had suffered gunshot wounds.

Deputies discovered that Daniel Drake and Jeanette Pfleger had been involved in a long-term relationship that was ending. The investigation suggested that Drake convinced Pfleger to get into the car with him and then allegedly shot her and attempted to take his own life.

Emergency responders transported Drake to a local trauma unit where he later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

LCSO detectives are trying to piece together the final hours of the incident before it became violent, according to the release.
