The incident occurred on July 30, 2023, when Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers responded to the area of 900 W. University Ave. to the report of multiple people shot. The investigation revealed Myers was the single shooter who unprovokedly shot and killed Ronald DuBois and Ronnie Lee James Jr. and shot and injured a third victim in the abdomen.

GPD investigators used nearby security surveillance footage for additional information and located Myers attempting to dispose of the gun while concealing himself.

Judge James Colaw presided over the trial which lasted three days. Myers will be sentenced on Sept. 30 and could face a maximum life sentence in the Florida Department of Corrections.
