Law enforcement arrested three suspects in Bradford County involved with the Tuesday stabbing death of Emory Crews Jr.
In two separate Bradford County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) releases posted Wednesday, detectives arrested Joshua Ward, 34, and Diane Chamberlin, 68, for felony tampering with evidence and Alvin Weeks Jr., 39, for premeditated murder in the first degree.
Around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Crews was dropped off at HCA Florida Starke Emergency Room with stab wounds, where he died soon after. Witnesses identified Ward and Chamberlin as the people in the car.
According to one of the releases, BCSO and Union County Sheriff’s Office SWAT members, along with K-9 assistance from the Union Correctional and North Florida Reception Medical Center, executed a search warrant at 22438 NW 44th Ave. in Lawtey where they found Ward and Chamberlin.
Following interviews with the two suspects, it was revealed that both subjects destroyed and disposed of evidence related to the homicide.
The hunt for the alleged murder suspect continued and ended at 11:10 a.m. when law enforcement captured Weeks Jr., who was located in a barn on his family’s property in northeast Bradford County.
Law enforcement is continuing the investigation, which could result in more arrests and/or charges.
“The dedication and efforts of many individuals from the Florida Department of Corrections, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Bradford County Fire Rescue, and the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office brought about this quick and safe arrest,” said Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith. “There were also numerous citizens who came forward to assist us and I would like to thank each and everyone involved.”
