Sweetwater Apartments shooting injures two

A Sweetwater Apartments shooting Saturday evening injured two people and the suspect fled law enforcement.

According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) social media post, the incident occurred around 7:44 p.m. at 3101 NE 15th St.

When GPD officers arrived on scene, an investigation revealed that the suspects arrived in a vehicle and started shooting at another group of people. The subjects who were initially shot at returned fire and struck two people in the vehicle.

The two injured subjects were dropped off at a Gainesville hospital and later transferred to UF Shands Hospital.

GPD officers located the suspect’s vehicle in the Pine Ridge area and the suspect fled on foot. GPD requested assistance from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Department to search for the suspect.
