Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol arrested Nathaniel Allen Klippel, 20, on Thursday in Tampa after surrounding his residence and encouraging his surrender for an interstate crash that happened in Alachua County.

Emergency personnel transported both Klippel and the driver, 20-year-old Valrico woman, to an Alachua County hospital after crashing on Sept. 4 on 1-75 at the 398 mile post.

At the hospital, witnesses overheard Klippel intimidating the woman to not report the crash. A week after the incident, the woman reported the crash and told what caused the crash.

Klippel and the woman were arguing while she drove when Klippel grabbed the steering wheel and caused the woman to lose control of the vehicle.

Because of the information, FHP obtained and served a warrant to 3812 West Fig Street in Tampa to arrest Klippel and take him to the Hillsborough County Jail.

He’s facing charges of attempted murder and witness tampering.
