The Lake City Police Department (LCPD) arrested five people Thursday after attempts to break up a fight led to a woman spraying an officer and others with pepper spray.

The incident occurred just after 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon. LCPD officers were dispatched to the Circle K at 938 W. Duval Street, which is in west Lake City, after someone reported an ongoing fight.

When officers arrived, they found five people engaged in “mutual combat,” according to an LCPD press release.

“As officers attempted to separate these individuals, one produced a can of pepper spray and sprayed the other individuals, including one officer,” the department press release said.

EMS treated those affected by the spray on the scene.

LCPD reported all five persons involved in the melee were arrested for affray—fighting in public in a way that disturbs the peace. The woman who used the pepper spray, Mikhya Latonnja Hendon, 18, also faces charges of aggravated battery and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.
