Three suspects were arrested Wednesday and charged with armed robbery and murder in the Feb. 19 shooting at Pointe 23 Apartments.
According to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) release, detectives arrested 14-year-old Mikhail Lawson, 15-year-old Kemeon Lee and 25-year-old Dyquann Freeney. Freeney was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The incident occurred on Feb. 19 around 8:58 p.m. when officers responded to the reports of gunfire at 740 NE 23rd Ave.
When officers and EMS personnel arrived, they confirmed the death of a victim, 17-year-old Caleb Fries, suffering from a single gunshot wound sitting inside a vehicle.
Apartment residents told officers they heard three to five gunshots fired and witnesses said three black males were observed fleeing toward NE 23rd Avenue, one of whom was carrying a firearm.
GPD added in the release that it wanted to thank the citizens who came forward with information to help solve the murder and, even though arrests have been made, the investigation is still open. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call 352-393-7682 or individuals wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 352-372-7867.

Terrible tragedy. Good example of how gun control laws don’t/won’t stop criminals from committing gun crimes.
This is a win-win situation.
