Two more suspects were charged in connection with the murder of Shawn Waldron, whose body was discovered in the Osceola National Forest in April.
According to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) release, detectives arrested Taquilla Clayton, 22, of Lake City, on Monday for her role in the murder and charged Tyre’ Taylor, 31, of Lake City, with murder. Taylor is currently in custody on unrelated charges in Georgia.
On April 11, Waldron’s body was discovered in the Osceola National Forest north of Lake City in the area of NE Gum Swamp Road west of NE Range Road. His body had been bound and severely burned and was identified days later as that of the 32-year-old Waldron of Lake City.
“I want to commend our detectives for their continued efforts and determination in this case,” said Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter in a statement. “We are committed to seeing this case resolved with all parties involved being held accountable.”
Robert Lee Jackson was the first suspect arrested on first-degree murder charges on April 28 by U.S. Marshalls in Jacksonville.
After Jackson’s arrest, Hunter said Waldron’s murder was one of the worst he’s seen and that the case had connections with drugs and gangs, adding both Waldron and Jackson were known to the sheriff’s office for past drug incidents.
