
A federal grand jury indicted a 41-year-old Inglis man on a charge of possession of a firearm and ammunition by an unlawful immigrant.
According to a Northern District of Florida U.S. Attorney’s Office press release, Camerino Perez, aka “Squirrel,” was indicted for possession of a firearm and ammunition by an unlawful immigrant.
On May 25, Perez was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) on charges of a weapon offense using a firearm under the influence of alcohol and resisting an officer with violence.
Peavy is scheduled for arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Midori A. Lowry at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, at the U.S. Courthouse in Gainesville. If convicted, Perez faces up to 15 years in prison.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Adam Hapner is prosecuting the case.
