A Levy County grand jury indicted a Williston man on Wednesday for allegedly killing his wife and setting her on fire on July 25.
According to an Eighth Judicial Circuit release, Robert Head Jr., 58, was indicted for first-degree murder, attempted felony murder and first-degree arson.
The incident occurred on July 25, 2024, when the Williston Police Department (WPD) responded to 1109 NE 4th Ave. in Williston in reference to a fire investigation. WPD officers, along with Levy County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Bureau of Fire and Arson investigators discovered Genevether Head on scene suffering from a burn and wounds associated with arson.
Emergency responders pronounced Genevether Head dead on scene and an LCSO detective identified Robert Head Jr. as the suspect.
The Levy County spring term grand jury reviewed the evidence and returned the indictment to Judge Luis Bustamante.
Robert Head Jr. is currently in the Levy County Detention Center without bond.
