Throughout winter break, Alachua County Public Schools is releasing winter concerts from area schools for all to enjoy from the comfort of home.
Music teachers throughout the county found creative ways to keep their music students “together” virtually by using technology.Â
And the result of their efforts are now available to experience online.

There is spectrum of concerts from local elementary, middle and high school bands.
The Buccholz Band and Aviance Color Guard concert, sponsored by the Buccholz Band Booster, features performances by the Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony.Â

Fifth-graders from Archer Elementary, led by music teacher Jennifer Sahmel, play the March from the Nutcracker Suite with buckets and rhythm sticks. The students learned to read the sheet music for this performance.

Gainesville High School’s Band and Guard Winter Concert features performances including songs and dances celebrating the holiday season.

And Eastside High School’s Band Winter Concert also takes the stage.
Teachers and students throughout Alachua County navigated online teaching in 2020 and integrated new technology to make the virtual concerts a reality.
As Eastside High School’s Band Director Joseph Hughes says, “Challenges bring out the best in the students at EHS.”
