The Matheson History Museum and TranQuility are partnering to host Art Through Advocacy on Monday.
The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the Matheson History Museum (513 E. University Ave.). This event is free, but registration is required.
TranQuility, a community group for transgender people, their families, and allies who seek to better the lives of the queer community. This event aims to bring together artists and academics to converse about how to make art with the capacity to inspire the queer community.
There will be a talk about the arts and how they can be used as a transgender community builder.
Panelists for this event will be artist Kim Sims, Carrie Cotton of TranQuility Gainesville and Dr. Jillian Hernandez, who is a UF associate professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies.
The event will also feature artwork by Kim Sims, poetry readings, and musical performances. There will be refreshments and drinks available.
