The University of Florida announced on Monday corrected times for a series of open forums for students, faculty and staff to hear from its presidential finalist.
The UF Presidential Search Advisory Committee unanimously recommended Dr. Stuart Bell, former president of the University of Alabama, as the sole finalist to become UF’s 14th president on May 18.
Originally, it was announced that the public forums with Bell would take place on Wednesday, June 3, with the faculty forum first, followed by the student forum, and then the administrator and staff forum. However, following Monday’s announcement, the order of the forums will now be student, faculty, and administrator and staff.
The new schedule is listed below.
- Student forum: 1-2 p.m.
- Faculty forum: 2:15-3:15 p.m.
- Administrator and staff forum: 3:30-4:30 p.m.
The forums will still be held on Wednesday in the Emerson Alumni Hall President’s Ballroom (2nd Floor), 1938 W. University Ave., in Gainesville.
In a May 22 announcement on UF’s president search website, Rahul Patel, chair of the UF Presidential Search Advisory Committee, said the UF Board of Trustees will interview Bell during a meeting at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, at Emerson Alumni Hall.
If Bell is selected by the Board of Trustees, he will still need to be confirmed by the Florida Board of Governors.
