The University of Florida announced Monday that the Board of Trustees will consider a proposal to raise the athletic fee by $1.56 per credit hour and the health fee by $0.27 per credit hour.

The athletic fee of $1.90 has not changed since 2000, while the health fee of $15.81 has stayed the same since 2015, according to a UF press release.

“The athletic fee increase reflects the Local Fee Committee’s recognition that collegiate athletics has evolved significantly over the past two decades,” the release stated. “The increase will help sustain and enhance student engagement and experiences at athletic events.”

As for the health fee hike, the release states that the increase would “support the hiring of additional staff within the Disability Resource Center,” lowering “wait times and strengthening accessibility services for students.”

The Board of Trustees will discuss the proposals at its next meeting on Dec. 4.

If approved, the fee increases would go into effect for the 2026 fall semester, according to the release.
