A pathway to a bachelor’s degree just got easier for Florida students thanks to a partnership between two in-state institutions.

The University of Florida College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) recently announced that it is expanding its Gator Tracks Transfer Pathway through a collaboration with the College of Central Florida (CF). The initiative is designed to create additional opportunities for associate degree students to smoothly transition into a four-year program at UF.

According to a UF CALS press release, Gator Tracks Transfer Pathway is intended for students interested in one of 20 eligible CALS majors, including geomatics, nematology and entomology, agricultural operations management or wildlife ecology and conservation. The program quickly connects CF students with CALS academic advisors, who help guide their transition to a bachelor’s degree at UF.

“Florida is filled with talented students, and many of them start their collegiate journey with an associate degree at a state or community college,” said Kati Migliaccio, CALS dean, in the release. “With Gator Tracks, we’re removing barriers and providing a clear, supported pathway for those students to achieve their academic goals.”

CF students can receive a variety of support services through Gator Tracks, including virtual and in-person transfer student-focused workshops, one-on-one advising with academic advisors from CF and UF CALS, and expedited admissions decisions.

“For many local students, the dream of attending a prestigious Florida university is only possible by getting an affordable, quality education at CF for the first two years,” CF President Dr. Jim Henningsen said in the release. “This new partnership with the University of Florida offers students a guided pathway from day one to set them up for success.”

Every year, roughly 30% of the UF CALS graduating class is made up of students who started at UF as a transfer student, the release said.

Applications are currently open for CF students interested in joining the Gator Tracks Transfer Pathway. To apply, visit https://cals.ufl.edu/undergraduate/gator-tracks/.
