Wednesday school board meeting to be aired on Channel 12

The City of Gainesville and the Alachua County Commission have postponed a joint meeting to discuss COVID-19 with the University of Florida so that the School Board of Alachua County could use the Channel 12 station on August 12th.

The joint meeting was scheduled for 10 a.m. and the SBAC meeting was scheduled to start at 9 a.m. on the same date.

The action to be considered by the SBAC is whether to proceed with the full-time traditional brick and mortar classes on August 24th.

In order for more parents, teachers and interested community members to have access to viewing the meeting, the County bowed out of the joint meeting and asked the City of Gainesville to do the same.

“The postponement will allow a critical meeting of the Alachua County School Board to be aired on Cox Channel 12, and on streaming video at 9 a.m.,” said County Communications Director Mark Sexton.
