Local individuals and organizations will come together at Depot Park on Saturday to fundraise for Sira during the crisis pregnancy center’s Equip for Life Community Walk and run.
The annual event supporting the Gainesville faith-based nonprofit will start with check-in at 9 a.m. on “The Hill,” before a prayer kicks off all the movement at 9:45 a.m. at 875 SE 4th Street.
Walkers will complete two laps around Depot Park (1.50 miles) while runners finish a 5k in four laps (3.10 miles). Prizes will be distributed before the event finishes at 11:30 a.m.
Sira has already surpassed its $30,000 goal for the fundraiser by nearly $6,000. According to the walk’s website, all proceeds will go towards providing free life-affirming medical services like pregnancy testing, STD testing and ultrasounds, as well as abortion recovery and BrightCourse classes to Sira clients and their families.
Executive Director Katherine Gratto said in an email that they are expecting over 100 participants at Saturday’s event, and hope for more as registration remains open online. Participants must raise a minimum of $50 to receive a T-Shirt.
“The Walk is a way for participants to support the pro-life movement and the Sira Mission of bringing help, hope and healing grounded in truth and love,” said a press release from the organization.
