Singer Daryl Mosley to appear at Oak Dale Baptist Church in Newberry on Sunday

Singer songwriter Daryl Mosley kicks off his first tour since releasing his first solo album “The Secret of Life” on Pinecastle Records with a performance at Oak Dale Baptist Church in Newberry on Sunday, Dec, 13th.

The album is a collection of Mosley originals that include titles such as “A Few Years Ago”,  “The Deal” and a classic bluegrass attack on “A Piece At A Time”.

His songs tout old school values, faith, and emphasize slowing down and appreciating the things in life that truly matter.

According to Mosley’s biography, he has traveled extensively in his professional career but has remained a resident of Waverly, Tennessee which is a “small, Mayberryesque hamlet just west of Nashville where he grew up.”

“Daryl writes about real, salt-of-the-earth people and their personal struggles and victories on life’s journey,” his bio states. And when he sings those songs, the characters and scenes come alive as if they were sitting on the front porch with you.”

Mosley comes highly recommended by big named stars in the music business. “Country music legend Ronnie Milsap has called himself ‘a real fan’ of both Mosley’s songs and singing prowess. Legendary songwriters from Tom T. Hall to Tony Arata to Dave Loggins are among those who have sung his praises. Gospel music legend Bill Gaither said ‘Daryl is a poet-and we don’t have many poets left,’ ” according to the bio.

Mosley has been honored twice as Songwriter of the Year, had seven No. 1 songs, and three Song of the Year awards. Other artists including Lynn Anderson, Bobby Osborne, Josh Williams, the Booth Brothers, and Marty Raybon are among the many who have recorded Daryl Mosley songs.

In 2001, Mosley joined the Osborne Brothers and in 2010, he formed the band The Farm Hands which became one of the most awarded acts in bluegrass music.

Mosley has performed in venues ranging from the Grand Ole Opry to the Bluebird Cafe and even at West Point Military Academy.

But on Sunday, Dec. 13th, Mosley will make a stop at  Oak Dale Baptist Church at 17015 W. Newberry Road in Newberry for a performance during the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

Oak Dale Baptist is one of 20 churches Mosley will stop at on the tour that takes him from Tennessee to Florida and back up the East Coast to the Podunk Bluegrass Festival in Thomaston, Connecticut on Aug. 14th, 2021.

Mosley said he is not acquainted with anyone from Oak Dale Baptists Church. “I have a booking agency that schedules my appearances and they set it up,” he said. “But I’ve performed in Florida many times over the years, so I’m always hopeful that I will see some old friends or fans, and make some new ones.”

Oak Dale Baptist Church Member Judith Rippelmeyer helped arrange the event and said they invited Mosley back to perform there because his band The Farm Hands performed for the congregation a few years ago and they wanted to hear Mosley’s solo effort as well.

As far as the songs he will perform at the concert, Mosley says it’s really about his journey as a professional singer/songwriter and the stories behind the songs he’s written in his 30-plus year long career.

“Some of the songs were hits and will be familiar. Others are new songs I’ve written or songs that I have a deep connection with,” Mosley said. “The concert is spiritual, but also funny in places. I try to make sure there is something for everyone.”
