A 38-year-old Alachua man died when his van collided with a tractor-trailer on US Highway 441 on Friday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the Alachua man was driving his van east on US 441 as he approached a red traffic signal at the intersection of the Interstate 75 southbound exit ramp at 8:20 a.m. He then drove into the rear of a tractor-trailer being driven by a 37-year-old Crawfordville man that was stopped at the red light.

Emergency responders pronounced the van driver dead on scene.
