Columbia County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a Fort White man on Monday found with child pornography in his possession.
According to a Columbia County Sheriff’s County (CCSO) release, James Foerster, 59, was arrested on Monday with the help of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) team.
The investigation started in late January following a Cyber Tip involving Foerster. A search warrant was served on Monday at Foerster’s Fort White residence at 747 SW Rock Way.
CCSO detectives with help from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s forensics team confirmed that Foerster had child sexual abuse material on his electronic devices. Foerster provided a confession to the detectives.
“People who victimize children are among the worst in our society,” Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter said in the press release. “We will do everything possible to hold them accountable and ensure they are brought to justice.”
According to the release, additional charges may be forthcoming once forensics are conducted on additional items seized from Foerster’s home.
Foerster was transported and booked into the Columbia County Detention Facility.
