Halo Potato Donuts will be closing all three of its locations on Sunday.

The local donut shop, Halo Potato Donuts, announced on social media that it will be closing all of its stores on Sunday, Dec. 3.

In a statement, the company’s owners, Drew and Leah Stuerman, expressed their gratitude for the community’s support through the years. In the comments, Halo clarified that the company had to shut down due to the sales of the stores not covering all of its expenses.

Halo Doughnuts opened six years ago when the owner, Drew, moved to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida. He recognized the need for Gainesville’s very own independent donut company and began experimenting with donut recipes from his college apartment.

Agreed – sounds like a small startup with a limited / inadequate marketing plan.

That sucks the one in Hunters walk just opened by me. The cookies and cream donut is slamming.

Their original address is on South Main Street. Did they try to expand too quickly?
They had such great donuts and customer service! I’m really sad to hear that they are closing.
