Two injured in car vs. tree collision

Two people were injured Saturday night in a car vs. tree collision along W. Newberry Road in Gainesville.

According to an Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) release, emergency units responded to the crash in the 11000 block of W. Newberry Road near The Rock Church at 11:54 p.m. where a car hit a tree in the median.

ACFR Quint 23 and Heavy Rescue 23 extracted one entrapped patient and provided care for the second patient.

Emergency responders transported the two patients to local hospitals as trauma alerts.
