Video: ACSO deputy separates fighting hawk, snake

Deputy, snake and hawk
A sheriff's deputy freed a fighting snake and hawk on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy Aldous encountered a hawk and snake entangled in a battle for survival. With cars rushing by, Nick Aldous separated the two and allowed both to go their ways.

“Unless you get it on video, it didn’t happen,” Aldous’ coworkers tell him over the radio at the end of the video.

But the body camera caught everything, including Aldous telling the snake not to bite him.

The sheriff’s office posted the video to Facebook. Check out the post here.

“A hawk caught a snake for its meal. The snake quickly turned the tables,” the Facebook post said. “Deputies never know what the next call will be.”
