Southern-inspired breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant brand Another Broken Egg Cafe is opening in Gainesville at 3265 S. 34 St. on Jan. 13.

Located inside the University Tower Center in Suite 3, the Gainesville destination is the first of seven Another Broken Egg storefronts Renee and Derrick Jones plan to open across the Southeast under DRD2 Jones, LLC.

The proximity to UF’s campus and UF Health Shands Hospital aims to bring a convenient dining destination to the whole community.

“With its rich array of museums, state parks and community events, we’re excited to bring Another Broken Egg Cafe to Gainesville residents and visitors,” Derrick said in a press release. “Our goal is to create a warm, family-friendly environment where everyone can enjoy a chef-driven menu that has something for everyone, and where life’s special moments—big or small—are celebrated over great food.”

The Louisiana-based franchise serving up innovative twists on cocktails and southern breakfast, lunch and brunch dishes started as Broken Egg Cafe in 1996. When a customer approached founder Ron Green to “please open another Broken Egg,” he used that for naming future locations.

New York private equity firm The Beekman Group purchased and recapitalized Another Broken Egg in 2017, and the franchise now operates over 100 locations across 16 states.

After being long-time customers of Another Broken Egg Cafe, the Joneses said their mission as owners will be to bring Another Broken Egg Cafe’s consistent high-quality menu and dining experience of warm hospitality to communities across the region.

“Renee and Derrick embody everything we look for in franchise partners,” said the brand’s CEO and president Paul Macaluso. “As longtime guests-turned-owners, they bring a unique perspective and a heartfelt commitment to delivering the exceptional experience that keeps our guests coming back. We’re thrilled to see them lead this expansion in the Southeast and look forward to their continued success.”

The Gainesville location will offer favorites from Another Broken Egg Cafe’s traditional, lunch and seasonal menus such as shrimp ‘n grits, chicken and waffles, lobster and brie omelet, huevos rancheros and the southern chicken sandwich.

Customers can create half-and-half entrees, order from the gluten-free and kid menus and drink signature cocktails, mocktails, mimosas and Bloody Marys at the bar.

Another Broken Egg Cafe in Gainesville will operate seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Takeout, delivery and catering orders can be placed online.
