Some traditions are pandemic-proof.
The officers at the Alachua Police Department kept alive its “Shop with a Cop” tradition this weekend by purchasing gifts for kids, although not in attendance.
“We all know that 2020 has presented many challenges,” the APD wrote in a statement. “So many community events have been canceled or rescheduled due to the COVID pandemic. The Alachua Police School Resource Officers weren’t going to let that stand in the way of Shop with a Cop. This year’s event was dramatically altered with the children unable to be in attendance; however, the officers took it upon themselves to do the shopping for them. A HUGE thank you to Walmart, Goins Lodge 94, and the Kosman Foundation for your generous donations that made this event possible.”
Thanks APD, and Merry Christmas!
