Bizarre 911 call leads Levy County detectives to kidnap victim

A couple on the run from Clay County authorities has been apprehended by the Levy County Sheriff’s Office following a bizarre 911 call made to the LCSO on Monday. Deputies responded and were told by the 39-year-old female victim that she was held against her will at a home located on NE 76th Street east of Bronson.

LCSO detectives responded to the scene and the victim told them a horrific story. She said she met the Clay County couple through a mutual friend on Saturday. The couple, identified as Alexis Crawford, 20, and Christian White, 30, was staying with the victim’s mutual friend. On Saturday evening the victim offered to purchase dinner for them but shortly after returning to the residence, the situation turned violent. 

The victim reports she got into a fight with Crawford who grabbed her and attempted to restrain her with zip ties. White got involved in the fight and assisted Crawford in restraining the victim, ultimately placing zip ties on her feet and arms.

Over the following 48 hours the victim was punched, cut, burned, drugged and repeatedly sexually battered, but escaped on Sunday. Detectives saw cuts and burns on the victim’s body consistent with her statements. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of these injuries. 

Detectives located and arrested Crawford and White on Monday afternoon. Both have been charged with false imprisonment, sexual battery and aggravated battery.

They are currently being held at the Levy County Detention Facility and their bonds have been set at $3.25 million dollars each.
