In his first ever campaign, Jackson Youmas won Alachua’s election for City Commission Seat 3 on Tuesday, defeating incumbent Dayna Williams and Planning and Zoning Board Member Bill Menadier.
Mayor Walter Welch called the election during the Board of Canvasser’s meeting after Youmas secured over half the votes.
The CVS store manager of over 20 years earned 52% of the more than 1,600 votes cast across the three precincts and candidates to serve a three-year term on the commission dais.
Youmas’s votes totaled 833 to defeat Williams, who earned 463 votes, and Menadier’s 310. Williams has served on the commission since 2018, with two terms as vice mayor.
“I am not a career politician. I am a father, a healthcare professional and your neighbor,” Youmas told Mainstreet before the election. “I’m running because the soul of Alachua is worth fighting for and it deserves someone at City Hall who actually stands up for it.”
The following list is a breakdown of the votes for each candidate per precinct. The city will audit Precinct 3, Legacy Park Multipurpose Center, on Wednesday morning and adjust results accordingly.

Wpw how things have changed. Dayna Williams, the pro-sprawl candidate of the real estate interests, did not even get 50% of the vote in the Turkey Creek precinct. In the past she would have won Turkey Creek by a landslide.
The last 3 candidate elected have been outsiders far removed from the good ole boyz cartel that has run Alachua for 50 years. Hopefully next year will be a clean sweep. Perhaps the stench can be removed from city hall. Bye.
the #s at each poll place per candidate have their story to tell and predictable .
ha ha -4 in ‘red’ . I like that .
She flew too high and went from R to MAGA.
